I personally love making cupcake recipes that are decorated in fun and exciting ways. Which is exactly what these cupcakes are – they’re decorated like sunflowers! They are perfect for a kid themed party or activity, or even an adult party like a baby or bridal shower. The terracotta flower pots are such a fun final touch.

Ingredients and supplies for sunflower cupcakes:
- 6 cupcakes, prepared according to package directions
- Yellow funfetti frosting
- Green decorating icing
- Brown jimmie sprinkles
- 6 terracotta pots, 3in x 3in
- Leaf piping tip
How to make sunflower cupcakes:
Before you get started making your sunflower cupcakes, make sure to get all the supplies and ingredients ready! It makes the process so much simpler when you already have everything you need in front of you.
Get started by preparing an icing bag or ziploc bag with an icing tip and yellow frosting. Then, start piping leaf shapes around the outer edges of the cupcake as shown below. Be sure to lift up after each leaf shape so you are left with a point. Go all the way around the cupcake twice before moving on to the remaining cupcakes.
Next, spoon brown jimmies into the middle of the cupcakes. You can also choose to frost the cupcakes first with a thin layer of yellow icing, then pipe on the yellow petals, and then add the jimmies (this will just give the jimmies something to stick to).
Once you’ve done that, squeeze a small dot of green frosting between the petal layers to create green leaves. You can leave some without or repeat on all of them.
Now place the cupcakes inside the pots! For smaller cupcakes that risk sinking down too much, you can flip an empty liner over and set it in the pot first. Serve and enjoy!
