As a homeschool family, we have LOTS of books! And all kinds of books. And books everywhere! Books on the bookshelves, books on the floor, books at the kitchen table and counter, books in the bedroom.
We may have plenty of books, but one thing we always seem to be lacking is bookmarks!! We never have enough bookmarks. I don’t know where they disappear to. With 8 kids, there really is no telling where they go.
Sometimes I’ll simply use a paper clip to mark my place, or a scrap piece of paper. My favorite bookmarks are magnetic ones because they stay put the best. But I’m also a sucker for a homemade bookmark made by my kids.
We recently discovered origami corner bookmarks. There are so many different themed corner bookmarks you can make, but we thought these polar bears were super adorable!

Polar Bear Bookmark Craft Supplies
- Cardstock (white, cream, and pink)
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ruler
- Sharpies (black and pink)
- Printable template
How to Make Polar Bear Bookmarks
Step 1:
Take a white square (6×6 inches) piece of cardstock and place it diagonally.
Step 2:
Fold it diagonally in half into a triangle shape.
Step 3:
Take the bottom right point and bring it upwards to the top point and fold.
Step 4:
Similarly, fold the lift point up to the top point.
Step 5:
Open up both folds.
Step 6:
Take the top layer of the top point and fold it downwards to the bottom center.
Step 7:
Refold the left point back up to the top point.
Step 8:
Tuck the left flap inside the pocket.
Step 9:
Similarly, refold the right point back up to the top point, and tuck it into the pocket to make your bookmark.
Step 10:
Cut the top part of the bookmark according to the template.
Step 11:
Cut out the ears and mouth from the templates. Glue the small ear patterns inside the large patterns. Glue the nose with the mouth.
Step 12:
Glue the ears on the two sides of the bookmarks. Glue the mouth on the front of the bookmark.
Step 13:
Use a sharpie marker to draw the cheeks and eyes of the polar bear.
