Easter is such an important holiday in our home, if not THE most important. It’s so important to us that our children know and understand why we celebrate this occasion. Though we don’t do the Easter bunny, we do love celebrating the Resurrection in all kinds of different ways.
We have fun with dyeing eggs, having story time, and even trying some unique activities like this LEGO Easter Tomb. It’s also nice to just pull out a few easy crafts for the kids on Easter weekend. And this one is SO simple.

Sunset Cross Easter Paper Craft
Supplies Needed:
- Colored card stock or construction paper (green, yellow, orange, red, brown, dark brown, and black)
- Template
- Scissors
- Glue stick
Directions:
First, take the green paper and tear off a thin strip along the bottom.
Next, take the yellow paper and tear off about a third.
Repeat with the orange paper, tearing off about a third.
Then glue the orange paper to the red paper like the photo above.
Finally, glue the yellow paper on top and the green paper on top of the yellow. You’ve completed the sunset background!
Take the brown paper and tear a large chunk out of the corner to make a tomb. Tear a small circle from the dark brown paper to make a big stone.
Glue the stone to the tomb. Then glue the tomb to the corner of the sunset background.
Use the template to trace and cut a cross from the black paper.
Finish the craft by gluing the black cross to the colored paper above the tomb.
And that’s it! Your Sunset Cross Easter Paper Craft is complete! You can now hang it up to decorate for Easter, combine this craft with Easter story time, or add on a few other Easter Crafts to make a day of it.
