This is a really simple DIY activity for kids, and it doesn’t take long at all to make. The best part is that not only do kids enjoy the process of making the slime, but afterwards they also have something fun to play with and keep them entertained!
Slime-making can be messy and sticky, but just be sure to keep the craft contained to a smaller space so that clean-up is easy. Also, don’t be alarmed if your Slime is really sticky at first. Just keep kneading it until it’s the perfect consistency.

How to Make Gingerbread Homemade Slime
Ingredients:
- Airtight container
- 5 oz bottle of clear glue
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp contact solution
- Brown glitter
- Gold glitter
- Gingerbread oil
- Brown acrylic paint
- Small bowl
Directions:
In a bowl, pour the entire 5 oz bottle of clear glue. Then, add in ½ cup of water.
Add in a bit of brown acrylic paint and stir, then add a few drops of gingerbread oil and stir again.
Mix in the glitter of your choice and stir. We did a mixture of mostly brown with a bit of gold, but you can get creative with the ratio!
Add in ½ tsp baking soda and stir.
Add 1 tbsp contact solution. The slime will instantly begin to form as you mix it.
In the beginning, your homemade slime will be STICKY! Don’t panic; just knead the slime until it’s no longer sticky and becomes a slime texture.
Store in an airtight container until ready to use (and any time not in use).
Now comes the fun part — kids get to play with their slime! Just be sure to keep it stored in a sealed container when not in use to keep it from drying out too quickly. It should last several days if you do this. (Hint: Refrigerate your slime to make it last weeks, possibly even up to a month.) It’s crazy how many hours Slime will keep kids of all ages occupied, and it’s a perfect indoor activity on those chilly winter days when kids are stuck inside and bored!
