SUPPLIES FOR HOMEMADE DECONGESTANT SHOWER MELTS:
- 1 1/2 cups baking soda
- 1/2 cup water
- Dropper
- Essential oils:
- 20 drops tea tree oil
- 20 drops eucalyptus oil
- 8 drops rosemary oil
- 4 drops peppermint oil
- Silicone mold
DIRECTIONS TO MAKE HOMEMADE DECONGESTANT SHOWER MELTS:
Before starting, be sure to gather all of your supplies. These DIY shower melts are easy to make as long as you have your supplies in one place. First, add 1 1/2 cups of baking soda in a bowl.
Next, add 1/2 cup of water and gently stir together to form a paste. Once the paste forms, then you can carefully spoon the paste into a silicone mold. You can use regular square molds or get creative with different shaped molds like hearts or stars.
Pop the silicone mold into your oven and bake at 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes. Take out the mold out of the oven after it is done baking, but don’t remove the shower melts yet! They’ll need to dry for about 4 hours until they are fully set.
When the shower melts are fully set, combine 20 drops of tea tree oil, 20 drops of eucalyptus oil, 8 drops of rosemary oil, and 4 drops of peppermint oil. Using a dropper, add a bit of essential oil blend to the top of each shower melt.
Store your homemade decongestant shower melts in an airtight container and keep them in a cool, dark cabinet. If you live in a very humid area, you might want to store the shower melts in the fridge to keep them from melting.
How to use your homemade decongestant shower melts:
To use your homemade decongestant shower melts, take one into the shower with you. You’ll need to run a little water over it to start melting it. Then place the shower melt in a far corner of your shower, away from direct contact with water so it won’t melt quickly and will last longer. Inhale deeply and enjoy a relaxing, soothing shower!
