Ingredients needed for copycat Reese’s hearts:
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions to make copycat Reese’s hearts:
Before you get started, gather up your ingredients for this copycat Reese’s recipe – this makes it so much easier in the kitchen!
To get started, lay down a piece of parchment paper onto a flat moveable surface, such as a cutting board or cookie sheet. Add the peanut butter or butter to a glass bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute; stir. Add the vanilla extract and powdered sugar; stir until smooth.
Roll out the mixture on the parchment paper with a rolling pin until it is 1/2-inch thick. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Once chilled, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out peanut butter hearts until you’ve used all the dough. Place in the fridge while completing next step.
Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 minute on high and stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until melted; stirring in-between. Dip the peanut butter hearts into the melted chocolate using a fork to completely coat them; tap on the side of the bowl to remove excess. Place on parchment paper and repeat until all hearts are coated.
For a textured drizzle, dip a fork in the chocolate and drizzle it over the top of each heart. Place them in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden. Enjoy!
