Do your kids love playdough as much as mine do? While the clean-up can be a headache, I actually really love that my kids love playdough, because it’s such a great sensory activity that can be incorporated into other learning activities!
One of the coolest things about homemade playdough is that it is SO easy to make. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you’ll have a batch of homemade playdough ready to go! And you know every single ingredient that’s in it and don’t have to worry about kids sticking it in their mouths.
This is an edible playdough recipe made from Peeps that is safe for kids to play with! However, while everything in this playdough is edible, I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily good to eat. One suggestion is to remind your little one that every bite of playdough they take leaves less to play with!
And if your family loves The Grinch, your kids will especially love this Christmas Playdough since it’s a festive green color! We love to sit down and read/watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas as a family this time of year. (It sometimes even turns into a full unit of fun Grinch-themed activities!). So this playdough recipe fits right in! I’m sure your kids will love it, too.
Edible Peeps Christmas Playdough
What You’ll Need:
- 6 Christmas Tree Peeps
- 6-8 Tbsp Flour
- 1 Tbsp Crisco
And that’s it! Yes, it’s really that simple!!
Directions:
Place peeps, flour, and Crisco in a microwave safe bowl together.
Heat the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, and then remove from the microwave and mix well.
Once the flour is mixed in, remove the mixture from the bowl and knead it with your hands.
Hint: If it’s still a little sticky, just add a little flour until the stickiness is all gone!
Voila! You now have edible playdough that kids can play with safely! When not using the playdough, you can store it in an airtight baggie for up to a week. If it hardens, just pop it back in the microwave for 10-12 seconds to soften it back up.
