Color by number coloring pages have been around for as long as I can remember. They are a great way to help kids with number recognition.
But nowadays, there are lots of variations to these numbered coloring pages. Besides just numbers, children can find and color by shapes, colors, math problems, and more. The possibilities are really endless for what you can do with these kinds of worksheets.
What are Color by Number Worksheets?
Color by number worksheets are activity sheets that include pictures divided into numbered sections. Each number corresponds to a specific color code, typically indicated in a color key or legend. Children color each section according to the corresponding color, gradually revealing the hidden image as they progress through the worksheet.
These worksheets are commonly used in classrooms, preschools, and homeschools for young children to practice number recognition, color identification, and improve fine motor skills while having fun creating colorful pictures. And as I mentioned previously, you can also reinforce other concepts with these printable pages, not just number recognition. Sometime these worksheets will be referred to as Color by Code coloring pages.

Using the Coloring Pages
These Color by Dots coloring pages are a fun way to help your preschoolers learn the colors of the rainbow. There are six pages included, with each page having a summer-themed picture to color and reveal.
At the top of each page, there are pictures of crayons letting the child know which colors will be needed for each page. The child will then select the crayons out of the box that match the crayons on the page. Once your child has selected all of the crayons needed, they can begin coloring.
Each picture is divided into sections, and in each section is a colored dot. Your child will color each section the same color as the dot in that section. After they have colored each section, they will have a colorful summer picture to hang up or share.

Preschool Color Activities & Resources
There are lots of different ways and activities you can use to help teach colors to preschoolers. The best way is to just simply narrate and talk your way through the day – talking about and pointing to all the different things you encounter. Point to different things, name them, and also saying their color. Making this a regular part of your day will be a huge benefit it your preschooler when it comes to learning colors, among other things you talk about.
