One of our favorite weeknight dinners in our house is the classic – spaghetti and meatballs. But I don’t think I have to tell you how quickly that gets old!! Before long, you’re dreading the answer to “What should we have for dinner” because you JUST KNOW someone is going to beg for it.
Well that is exactly why I decided to try and change things up! I’ve already done a baked spaghetti recipe to change things up a bit, but decided to put more of a twist on the classic spaghetti recipe by making spaghetti and meatball cups! It’s very easy to make and it’s a fun new twist on a classic favorite. It makes a great lunch idea for kids too, and they LOVE it!!
Just follow the easy recipe below to make your very own spaghetti and meatball cups!
Ingredients needed for spaghetti & meatball cups
- 12 ounces spaghetti noodles
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups marinara sauce divided
- 1 bag meatballs frozen
Directions to make spaghetti & meatball cups
Gather the ingredients for your spaghetti & meatball cups – this makes cooking soooo much easier!
Preheat the oven to 400F. Cook the spaghetti until al dente, drain, and rinse in cold water. In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, eggs, cheeses, and 1 cup of marinara sauce. Mix well.
Spray a muffin pan with cooking spray and put a scoop of spaghetti in each tin. Using a shot glass or small cup, press down firmly to create a cup.
Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes, until they are set. Allow time to cool.
While the spaghetti cups bake, cook meatballs according to package directions. In a saucepan over medium heat, add the remaining marinara sauce and heat until hot. Remove from heat, add meatballs, mix well.
Add some sauce and 1 meatball to each spaghetti cup. Garnish with your favorite topping and enjoy!
