Kids Angel Christmas Cupcakes
Ingredients/Supplies You’ll Need:
- 12 baked cupcakes (your favorite homemade recipe or a boxed one — either way!)
- 1 to 2 cups white frosting (again, homemade or canned)
- Sparkling sugar
- 24 pretzel twists (2 for each cupcake)
- 12 Oreo cookies (1 for each cupcake)
- 12 pineapple-flavored Lifesaver candies (1 for each cupcake)
- White candy melts or White candy bark
- Chocolate candy melts or Chocolate candy bark
- Large open star tip (Wilton 1M Open Star Piping Tip)
- Piping bags
- Toothpick
Directions:
First things first — bake your cupcakes so that they’re ready to be decorated and turned into Kids Christmas Cupcakes! Also, line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
Next, melt the white candy according to package directions making sure not to overheat. If the candy gets too hot, it will seize. If desired, add 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil to make the melted candy more pourable.
Dip the pretzel twists in melted candy, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl. Place the pretzels on waxed paper until dry.
Dip Oreo cookies in melted candy, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl. Place the cookie on waxed paper and immediately add the Lifesaver candy as a halo. Allow to dry completely.
Next, melt the chocolate candy just like you did the white candy, according to package directions and making sure not to overheat. If desired, add 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening or coconut oil to make the melted candy more pourable.
Using a toothpick, draw two half circles on the uncoated portion of each cookies to be the eyes and a larger dot as the mouth. Allow to dry completely.
Pipe frosting onto each cupcake using an open star tip, and then sprinkle with sparkling sugar.
Place one angel head on the top and two pretzels to the opposite sides of each cupcake. You have your finished product!
Aren’t these Kids Christmas Angel Cupcakes SO cute?! They’re almost too adorable to eat! These will most certainly wow your friends and family — whether you’re hosting or taking this as a special dessert to a holiday party this year.
You could even give these as a special homemade Christmas gift!
