With springtime comes flowers. With Mother’s Day comes flowers. And my girls are at that age where they are totally into crafts, so we whipped up these simple flowers out of some construction paper and empty toilet paper rolls. They are my kind of flowers because they don’t require care, they don’t die, and they were made with love. Read on and see how you and your kids can make them too.
If your kids enjoy making flower crafts, a handprint lilies craft is another fun flower craft to make. And it’s perfect for Mother’s Day.
Simple Cardboard Tube Flower Craft
Supplies needed:
- Empty toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls cut in half
- green craft paint
- foam paint brush
- multi-color paper (construction paper or cardstock work best)
- glue stick
- glitter
- craft pom poms
Directions:
Paint the toilet paper rolls using the foam brush and green paint. Let dry.
Cut out some leaves, about 4″ long, using dark green paper and cut out some smaller leaves, about 2″ long, using light green paper. Put some glue on the small leaves and sprinkle glitter on the glue. Glue these small leaves to the center of the larger ones.
Glue the leaves to the front, bottom of the toilet paper roll.
Using different color paper, cut out tulip and daisy shaped flowers. You can use a cookie cutter to trace around if you’d prefer not to free-hand it. Make these approximately 3-4″ in size.
Glue little pom poms on the center of the daisy shaped flowers. Cut a little half inch slit on each side of the top edge of the toilet paper roll and then slide the flower into the slits.
Now enjoy them or give them to someone you love!
