In today’s society, it can sometimes be difficult for families to find wholesome, heartwarming movies to share with their children. After some digging, I have discovered ten Christian films that families will enjoy watching. Pull up a seat, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show. There is something for everyone.
Christian Movies for All Ages
The Star
This movie is an animated story that follows a group of stable animals on an adventure of following a star. It is an extension of the Christian birth story of Jesus Christ. This movie will be fun to watch with the entire family.
Letters to God
A young boy, named Tyler, writes letters to God as he is battling cancer. After a postman starts to read the notes, he is inspired to transform his own life. This film is genuinely touching and is a great movie for all ages.
He Knows My Name
This is a movie that would be great to watch around Easter. It sets the scene at the time of Jesus Christ and depicts a little girl, named Rebekah, who is determined to find out if Jesus is the Messiah.
Christian Movies for Ages 8+
A Little Game
This movie depicts a ten-year-old girl who learns about life through the game of chess. This is a great movie to learn about how to deal with life lessons and to be aware of signs to guide you.
A Mile in His Shoes
This is an aspiring movie about a young man with Asperger’s who joins a baseball team. Through the support and motivation from his coach he is able to show his town what he is capable of.
Evan Almighty
This is a funny movie about a congressman who is contacted by God and is told to build an arc. The more the congressman tries to resist the crazier he appears to everyone else. This is defiantly filled with lots of laughs and is strictly for entertainment.
Christian Movies for Ages 12+
God’s Not Dead 2
This movie brings forth a lot of questions that Christians have faced politically in society. After a college professor answers a student’s question from a biblically perspective, she is placed on trial. I believe this gives the viewer a great view of how to stand up for your beliefs.
Facing the Giants
This movie is about a high-school football coach, facing the possibility of being replaced, who decides to change his coaching philosophy by putting God first in the lives of his students. This is an excellent movie for families to watch.
In Over My Head
An entitled college student is faced with deciding to be a responsible guardian to his siblings, after the death of his parents, or continue with his entitled ways.
Altar Egos
This is a funny Christian movie about a pastor who takes a different approach to try to make positive changes in his congregation secretly. Families will enjoy this film and share a few laughs.
