LEGO Easter Tomb Activity

This LEGO Easter Tomb Activity is a fun way to teach your children about the story of Jesus’ resurrection. Building while learning – how much more entertaining could you get?!

Here is another fun resurrection activity you can do with your children to share the Easter story with them. Just like our Easter Story Paper Plates, you can use this building activity to teach your kids how Jesus died on the cross, was buried in the tomb, and then resurrected and rose to Heaven on Easter Sunday.

LEGO Easter Tomb Activity

Most kids enjoy building with LEGOs so this is a teachable moment for your Sunday school classroom or your own home. Use the building blocks to create the tomb that Jesus was buried in after he died on the cross. You can then roll away the stone door when it’s time for him to rise up to Heaven.

Our LEGO Easter tomb calls for a lot of white blocks. If you don’t have this many in your child’s LEGO stash, Amazon has a big assortment of White LEGOs – or your can always make a more colorful tomb. 

How to Make a LEGO Tomb

For this Easter activity, we used:

• 1 green baseplate
• Various leaves, vines, flowers, and/or 1×1 round plates to decorate the garden tomb

For the tomb:

• 1 white 6×8 plate
• 1 white 2×6 plate
• 3 white 1×6 bricks
• 4 white 1×4 bricks
• 5 white 1×3 bricks
• 7 white 1×2 bricks
• 1 white 1×1 brick
• 1 white 1x2x2 brick
• 7 white 2×4 bricks
• 10 white 2×2 bricks
• 1 white 1×6 brick with arch
• 1 white 2×6 brick
• 3 yellow 2×2 bricks
• 3 yellow 2×3 bricks
• 1 yellow 1×2 brick

For the stone:

• 1 white 2×2 round brick
• 4 white 2X2 with inside and outs bow
• 1 white 4×4 round plate

We began by building the archway of the door of the tomb. Then we used square and rectangle LEGOs for the walls of the tomb.

We continued up the each side to build the walls of the LEGO Easter tomb.

We added the yellow bricks to the front of the tomb. This represents the light that is seen once the stone door is rolled away.

We built inward and up to close off the top of the tomb. The large rectangular LEGO block was perfect for creating the roof. 

More slender bricks added along the roof of the LEGO Easter tomb. This is to make the tomb look more rounded.

We used the round LEGOs to create the stone door for the tomb. This is easy to roll to the side when Jesus comes out to rise to Heaven.

We finished our Easter tomb by adding decorative LEGO blocks for trees and flowers.

Instructions

1. Begin by building the archway of the door of the tomb.
2. Use square and rectangle LEGOs to layout the walls and determine the size of the tomb.
3. Continue adding LEGO blocks to the sides to build up the walls.
4. Add the yellow bricks to the front of the tomb, just behind the archway.
5. Build upward and inward to close off the roof. Use the large thin LEGO for the roof's center.
6. Add more slender LEGOs blocks to the top, giving the tomb a more rounded apprearance.
7. Construct the stone door using the rounded LEGOs. Sit in front of the archway or just off to the side like the tomb is open and empty.
8. Add decorations such as trees and flowers around the tomb.
