I love to make a big deal out of New Years. The week after Christmas always finds me filling out a new planner, jotting down goals, and printing out a gazillion printables. There’s nothing quite like a fresh start or blank page. We’re barely one week in- if you have that hankering to get organized, grow in discipline, and set big goals this year, here’s a list of fantastic resources in 12 categories to get you started! It’s not too late.
For your planner
- The Best Budget-Friendly Alternatives to Pricey Planners . This post from Kalyn of Creative Savings Blog gives an awesome list of affordable planner options {some are even free!}. After reading it, I was able to find a great {free!} printable planner for the year, which brings me to:
- Free Planner 2017: Design a Life you Love. This printable planner from Shining Mom is what I will be using to organize my life this year. I printed the cover on card stock, then took the whole thing to a local office store and had the front and back pages laminated, and the planner all spiral bound. I think I’m going to love it!
- Free Weekly and Daily Planner Printables. For years I’ve thought Ann Voskamp’s daily planning page is gorgeous- so inspiring! I’ve enjoyed using it from time to time in the past. Maybe it would be a good fit for you?
- The Organized Life Planner. I *almost* bought this planner designed by Kayse Pratt. I really love the look of it, and how detailed the planning pages are. It might be an investment I choose to make next year if the free planner I’m using doesn’t quite work for me. This one is way more extensive, perfect for paper/list-making lovers like myself.
For your goals
- Long-Term and Short-term Goals Planning Sheets. These free printables from Scattered Squirrel are BRILLIANT. You can print one for each goal, small or big, then list the individual steps you will need to take in order to reach them. Plenty of room to write out your vision, with due dates for the goal itself, as well as the mini-steps.
- Goal Planning Forms. These detailed, free printable worksheets from Money Saving Mom help you to set goals based on your priorities.
- Daily Habit Tracker. This free printable from Daisy Cottage Designs is adorable, and also helpful for tracking daily follow through on your goals.
- Goal Setting Forms for Your Planner. Set SMART {specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely} goals with this helpful free printable from Planner Squad. Just sign up for their newsletter to get your copy.
For your spiritual growth
- Read the Bible in a Year! Nothing will change your life like consistently spending time communing with God through His Word. Over the years I’ve used several different plans, including the Discipleship Journal, and M’Cheyne. This year I’m trying the 5 Day chronological plan.
- Mother’s Prayer Calendar. Prompts from Bible verses on how to pray for your children daily, from Kat of Inspired to Action.
- 12 Powerful Verses to Pray Over Our Children. This printable from Club 31 Women is another helpful way to pray specific Scriptures for your children.
- Maybe serious study of the Bible is your weak spot {I know it’s mine!}. If so, you might find this starting place for personal Bible Study to be helpful.
- Memorize Scripture the Easy Way. If you want to start memorizing Scripture more faithfully this year, this idea from Alison Tiemeyer is a good way forward.
- Printable Prayer Cards. A lovely floral print out- record praises, requests, confessions, and answered prayers. By Sarah E. Frazer.
For your kids

- Age-Appropriate Chores for Children. Maybe you want to start assigning daily chores for your kids, but you aren’t sure where to start? This free printable will definitely give you ideas!
- Free Printable Screen Time Chart. Make sure your kids are doing the important stuff before they sit in front of a screen each day. This sweet chart from The Shady Lane will make it easier for a mom to enforce and kids to not feel “punished.”
For your homeschool
- Sarah has created a fabulous printable Homeschool Planning Pack that you can get for free when you subscribe to My Joy Filled Life’s newsletter.
- Simplify Your Homeschool with Spiral Notebooks. Sarah of Read Aloud Revival has a simple but brilliant solution for keeping your students on task.
- A Charlotte Mason Homeschool Planner. If you homeschool in the Charlotte Mason fashion, this lovely free printable from My Humble Kitchen might be just up your alley.
For your meal planning
- The Printable Recipe Binder Kit. A few weeks ago my three year old dumped my entire recipe box and scattered all the contents. It’s been impossible to find what I need since, and frankly I’ve needed to update how I store my recipes for awhile. I’m seriously considering purchasing this!
- Super cute in turquoise free printable planners on The Road to Loving My Thermo Mixer include monthly meal plans, lunchbox planners, What’s for Dinner?, and weekly plans. You will find what you are looking for here.
- Weekly Menu and Grocery List combined printable from Organizing Junkie.
For your health
- Free Printable Health and Fitness Tracker. Totally the Bomb has made a fairly comprehensive paper system for you to track food intake, quitting soda and drinking more water, work outs, and fruit and veggie intake.

For your home
- A Bag A Day Keeps the Clutter Away {12 Months of Decluttering}. A great plan from Inspired Room.
- Try the 30 Day Minimalist challenge this January. I used it to get rid of over 564 items! Can you even imagine?!?
- Follow Clean Mama’s weekly cleaning routine to gain some order in your home.
- Or commit to just 20 minutes a day of cleaning, for a mostly clean home.
- 2 Hour House Cleaning Checklist. Need a quick boost to get your year started right? Download and print this free checklist from Money Saving Mom.
- 31 Day House Cleaning Routine. This cute printable will get you in a good and steady rhythm for keeping your home spic and span.
For your reading life
- Challies 2017 Reading Challenge. I participated in last year’s version of this challenge, and it was so good for my reading life! I finished way more books than the previous year, read more spiritually challenging books, and pushed to try genres I wouldn’t have otherwise touched. Highly recommended.
- Modern Mrs. Darcy 2017 Reading Challenge. This challenge looks super fun! Choose your own adventure- read for fun, or for personal growth.
- 2017 Reading Challenge for Christian Women. Another excellent option from Young Wife’s Guide!
- Record what you read this year with Modern Mrs. Darcy’s printable reading journal. Or with this fun book stack printable from Finding North. Or like this in your bullet journal.
For your finances
- Finance Printables to help you stay on track. Scattered Squirrel has created a free monthly bill pay tracker, spending tracker, savings log, and debt payment tracker.
- Free Printable Debt Thermometer. This visual aid from A Cultivated Nest might be super inspiring for your debt snowball!
- 52 Week Money Saving Challenge. Save $1,378 in manageable, small increments with this printable plan from Morning Motivated Mom.
For your marriage
- Praying Daily for Your Husband. Another great month’s worth of prayer prompts from Kat from Inspired to Action. Praying for our husbands can only strengthen that relationship!
- 30 Day Marriage Challenge. This printable plan from iMom has one little assignment for you each day. It looks like a great tool for building up your marriage!
- 3 Ways to be More Generous to Your Spouse. Purpose to adopt these 3 changes this year, and I think you will be amazed at the results.
For your blog
- 2017 Blog Planner. Sarah has created the perfect blogging companion- this all-inclusive resource has pretty much everything you could want to track as a blogger.
- Your Intentional Blog Planner. You can get a copy of this free printable planner by signing up for Victoria of Creative Home Keeper’s Intentional Christian Women’s Blogging Newsletter. Less a comprehensive planner than Sarah’s 2017 blog planner, there are lots of reflective questions to help you think through your purpose, and what is and isn’t working for your blog. I’ve enjoyed getting her emails, as she is always pushing us to focus on what really matters, and to glorify God first and foremost in our blogging endeavors.
- Building a Framework. I received a copy of Abby Lawson’s book in last year’s Ultimate Homemaking Bundle, and this was by far my favorite resource in it! Even if you get the most basic package, I think you will have tons of food for thought and actionable steps to take.
Are you feeling inspired yet?? I know I sure am! What are some of your favorite planning resources as we head into this New Year?
