This week I’m joining in with my fellow crew members to bring you a “5 Days of…….” series. Everyone is choosing a different topic to post about for 5 days. I’m excited to check out all of the other crew members’ post because they have all chosen some great topics to write about, like 5 Days of……….
- Big Family Homeschooling
- Delight-Directed Learning
- Frugal and Free Homeschooling
- Homeschooling Highschoolers
- Homeschool Organization
- Science Fun
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There are 90 homeschool bloggers participating. I’m sure you will find some exceptional reading here.
The topic I have chosen to share is 5 Days of Letter Recognition Activities.
With seven children, there is always someone around here that is learning the alphabet. I love teaching my kids to read and the first step to reading is learning the alphabet. So this week I will be bringing you five tried-and-true letter recognition activities that we have been using in our homeschool for over seven years.
I actually shared this first activity several months ago but it’s one of our favorites so it’s worth sharing again! We call is Laundry Letters and you can read the original post by clicking on the graphic below.
Here’s a sneak peak {I made the letter shirts by hand, but I’ve made it easier for you and have included them as printable pages}:
I came across your blog while searching for printables for our homeschool. Great blog, great resources here; keep up the good work.
Great series topic! Thanks for offering these printables.
Oh, I am so glad that I traveled to your site via the KBN Back to School linky. I was thinking of an activity similar to this and am glad to know you already have it posted!! I pinned this as well as your letter hunt worksheet. I will be using them in my home. Very cute educational ideas.
Hello I’m just wondering what age this is appropriate for. My daughter just turned 3 and a half, would these generally be a good place to start with her? We’ve done some light letter naming and tracing but she doesn’t really ‘like’ doing it much. Great site I’ll be coming back for more ideas as we move along! Thank you 🙂
You could definitely do these activities with her. But every child is different and if you have her getting frustrated or not quite ready yet, just put it away for a week or 2 and bring it out and try again.
