Oh how I dislike the thought of trying to loss weight.
After having 9 pregnancies with 4 of those pregnancies ending too soon, which brought on a bout of depression lasting sometimes up to a few months, it becomes hard to loss weight when you eat your feelings. I know there are many that struggle with this just like I do. We eat when we are happy, when we are sad, and even when we are bored. This is a hard thing to stop. I am pretty sure this will be a struggle for me for the rest of my life.
I do have a tool that I would like to share with you all. It’s pretty simple and works really well. I don’t believe that we need willpower to conquer all those yummy treats. With God in our corner we can conquer all.
So here is what I do when I get that feeling I want to eat for no reason or for a reason other then to feed my body. I say a little prayer or a really long one. This seems to help me. But remember, food is not only for energy and to substain our lives; we use it to celebrate. How many times in the Bible do they have feasts? Many times. Food is not bad. It’s meant to be enjoyed, but not over enjoyed. That’s where we run into a problem.
My journey of weight loss is still on-going. I have not made my goal, but as of May 8th, the day I started this venture, I have lost 36 pound and over 25 inches!! All of this by eating healthy and enjoying food for real.
Here is how I did it. I have been up and down in weight for many years. It has been a very depressing struggle. I just hated the way I looked. I was always down on myself and I had given up all hope of ever losing any weight. I became pregnant with my 5th child and I topped the sales after having him at over 240 pounds. At this point I decided I needed to work on loving myself, and being okay with the size I am. My husband loved me, my kids loved me, and my relationship with God was growing. It was amazing how creating a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father can help us want to take care of ourselves.
I started to make sure that what I was eating was healthy and not processed and I dropped some weight, got down to 222 pounds and stayed there. I decided that that was okay as long as I felt okay. And I did somewhat. I was able to play with my kids and go for walks so I was okay with that.
Then God decided to show me something; it was a book called Trim Healthy Mama. I joined their facebook page and saw the many stories of women and men lives changing by eating real, healthy food. I finally ordered the book and jumped into to the program.
This is me on May 8th at 222 pound and a size 18 -20
I started reading the book, making the recipes in the book, and sharing them with my family and now we all pretty much eat “on plan”. I can not believe how simple it was to watch the weight drop. When I read the book I realized that we were eating healthy, just not the right way. I learned how to put foods together that would not spike my sugar levels and cause me to gain weight. The best part about this book was it was based on how God created food for us to enjoy.
This is what worked for me.
These are my pictures so far. I can not wait to get to my goal, but so far I am now 187 and a size 12.
My journey to becoming healthy is still on-going and I am sure I will have my bumps in the road and my ups and downs, and days I want to throw in the towel. I am ready for those days, because God will be with me on this journey. I know he wants me to be healthy. He loves me, and you for that matter, and he wants us all to be happy.
I have decided to share this with my church and have started a support group for the ladies wanting to join me in this journey. God has led me down a path of trying to teach others to become healthy. What a blessing this group has been not only for them but for me. It is so important to have some one to help you stay on track.
I want to add that I was not paid in anyway to write about Trim Healthy Mama. I just love the program so much I had to share it with you all.

Thank you. 🙂
Hello, I’m stopping by from the Wise Woman Link-up. 🙂 I’m so encouraged to hear your success story! I wrote about weight issues this week as well, and over the years have learned that what I eat has so much more to do with it (at least for me) than how often I exercise. I will have to look into the book you mentioned. Thanks!
Jen 🙂
It really is important to choose the right foods and not to take food groups out. Thank you for stopping by.
I have been using the THM strategy for 1.5 years. I love it! It’s a great way to maintain a healthy weight without being deprived, too. Congratulations on your weight loss! You look fantastic! 🙂
I do not know you, but am struggling with extra weight after a miscarriage in 2012, birth in 2013, and stillbirth last month. It is hard to not emotionally eat…but I wanted to write you and say I am proud of you! Way to Go!! Keep up the great work!
Love as a fellow sister in Christ and one who knows the pain of loss,
Rebecca
You look great… I feel like transformation comes from the inside out 🙂
