These cute mistletoe cupcakes are as delicious as they are festive! Put a different spin on your holiday treats with this recipe.
When we think of Christmas, you think about making desserts with reindeer, Santa, or snowmen, right? Well today we are going to make a festive treat that isn’t the same old theme. This time we are using mistletoe!
A bit of a history lesson…there are a few different theories as to how “kissing under the mistletoe” came about. Some believe it dates back to the 18th century England, when servants would hang the mistletoe and be allowed to steal a kiss from any woman standing under it. If she didn’t let him, it was considered bad luck.
This custom eventually made its way to the middle class English people. It is also said that men had to pluck a berry from the plant each time they stole a kiss, and that there were no more kisses once all the berries were gone.
No matter the origin of kissing under the mistletoe, these mistletoe cupcakes are delicious!
