The biggest question I get asked about homeschooling is:
How do you do it with all different ages?
The answer is:
I am not really sure, but somehow it works.
Every time we have had a new baby I ask myself the same question.
How am I going to do this!?
Though homeschooling multiple children with a toddler running around, can be stressful and complicated at times; it is never usually as bad as I imagine it’s going to be.
Much of the time that I am focused on teaching my 3 older school age children; my five year old and toddler are usually off by themselves playing together. I try to have some educational toys and activities on hand to keep their play productive and somewhat structured.
Having a few tried and true toys at their disposal has gone a long way in keeping them busy, quiet and occupied for the most part; while I am doing school with the older kids.
All toddlers play differently, but these toys and activities have thankfully been proven to keep my little guys preoccupied for a good amount of time.
If you are teaching older children and are having a hard time keeping your toddler content, I hope you find these toys and activities helpful and engaging! Click on Pictures to see links and prices.
Puzzles
My 3yr old and 5 yr old get these puzzles out almost every day! My toddler started with the smaller wooden puzzles and has now moved up to the big floor puzzles. It can be annoying to have puzzles laid across our floors all the time but they are also learning, that they have to clean them up too! So of course they are learning a lot!

Arts and Crafts
My toddler and 5yr old love to create and draw with their older siblings but they need their own sized supplies and precautionary steps need to be taken to keep my house from being destroyed. These supplies are not only beautifully made but help keep the toddler creations under control and off my walls and floors!

Imaginary Play
I love when I find my kids using their imagination to play with each other and their toys. I often listen by the door as they make up their own little world and characters. They love using these plastic animals and dinosaurs as they go on all kinds of little adventures.

I try to include my toddler in as much learning with my older kids as possible, but sometimes it just doesn’t work and he needs his own activities. These toys and activities are life savers!
