P is for power of prayer.
After three years of homeschooling, I have found the best way to ensure that your homeschool fails.
That is a morbid thought, isn’t it?
Who looks for ways for their homeschool to fail?
Well, not me! I didn’t go around looking for ways to sabotage our homeschool.
But unknowingly, I found it.
Want to know what it is?
Neglecting to pray for your homeschool.
Forgetting to include God in your lesson planning.
Ignoring the gentle nudging of the Holy Spirit and insisting on doing it your way instead.
Friends, I speak from experience here. When my homeschool days are long and arduous, when there are more tears than smiles, and when long division makes me want to pull my hair out, it isn’t because my kids are deficient.
It isn’t because I am a horrible teacher.
It is because I have forgotten the awesome power of prayer.
On those days when you just want to give up, DO IT! Give it up and hand it over to Him.
God didn’t put you on this homeschooling journey to test your sanity. Really, he didn’t!
His plan wasn’t to torture you by locking you in a house with little people all day.
No, sweet mama. He called you to homeschool because He wants to bless you more than you can imagine.
He wants to help you find great joy in the journey of teaching and discipling these precious little ones that He has given to you.
But, He needs you to let Him in. He needs you to pray. He needs you to bring all of your hopes, fears and plans to Him. He can handle it.
Hand over the reigns of control, hold tight to the power of prayer and watch your homeschool soar.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad the waters were quiet and he brought them to their desired haven. ~ Psalm 107: 28-30
