Easter Cross Fork Painting for Kids

If you haven’t noticed, we really like Easter in our home. I’ve been coming up with a number of Easter-themed activities you and your family can enjoy. Children always learn best when they are having fun. Plus, arts and crafts are very important to a child’s development. 

I think Easter crafts go hand-in-hand with learning about the story of Jesus on the cross. Hence this easy Easter cross painting for kids and adults alike.

Easter Cross Painting – with a Fork!

This simple paper craft is a great way to introduce the importance of the cross in Christian faith. Plus, what child doesn’t love to get creative with some paint?!

We used the fork painting method for our Baby Jesus in the Manger craft back at Christmas. My kids had a blast with this. The fork created the perfect result in looking like the hay that God’s Son rested on once he was born.

Easter Cross Fork Painting Craft

Materials:

• Black cardstock paper
• White cardstock paper
• Cross Template
• Paints: red, orange, and yellow
• Plastic forks
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Paper plate

Instructions:

First, squeeze some red paint on a paper plate. Grab the fork and dip the bottom into the paint.

Grab a piece of white cardstock paper. Drag the fork from the center of the page outward.

Repeat the fork paint strokes along the outer edge of the paper all the way around.

Squeeze out some orange paint and repeat that painting technique, focusing on making streaks that start inside and slightly overlap the red streaks. 

Repeat the fork painting technique one last time with the yellow paint, starting at the center of the plate going outwards coming up a little short to make sure the orange and red paint shows.

Allow time to dry. Extra time may be needed for this project to dry depending on how much paint is used. You can wait for it to dry between colors, but it’s not needed.

Print the cross template listed in the materials section above onto the white cardstock paper. Trace the cross onto the black cardstock and cut it from that paper.

Glue the black cross onto the center of the fork painted paper. Your Easter cross painting art is now complete!
