I have been homeschooling using an eclectic approach for 6 years now, and it wasn’t until this past year that I first heard of Delight-Directed Homeschooling. I was quite intrigued by the little bit that I read about it, but never further investigated what this schooling method was all about. So when I learned that one of the 5 Days of Teaching Creatively would be devoted to Delight-Directed Teaching, I thought it would be an excellent opportunity to find out more and share what I discovered with other curious homeschoolers. (Please note: I am not experienced in Delight-Directed Homeschooling; this post is based on what I have read about it.)
One of the most important factors in Delight-Directed Homeschooling is knowing your child – know how they learn best, know what their interests are, know what makes them tick. Once you get to know your child better and start thinking along the path of Delight-Directed Homeschooling, you will see learning, teaching, and homeschooling in a whole new light. If I’ve piqued your interest and you’d like to know more about Delight-Directed Homeschooling, check out these lovely bloggers and their amazing posts on Delight-Directed Homeschooling. They might just make you re-think how you are doing things in your homeschool – I know they did for me!
