Week Four – Day-in-the-Life Week
This is the fourth and final week of the hop. If you missed my posts for the first three weeks, just click on the links above. This week, hoppers are sharing what a day in their life looks like.
This is actually our daily schedule from last year. I haven’t made up our schedule for this year yet, as we are getting a late start to our school year due to moving (tomorrow!). Last year we participated in a co-op at our church on Fridays, so we only did school at home 4 days a week.
This year we will not be doing a co-op, and I’m really looking forward to having that extra day at home. We have done the co-op for the past 3 years and it is time for a break. Some changes that I’ll be making to our schedule for this year are: adding 2 toddlers to the mix; adding an extra day to our week (5 days instead of 4); doing school with the little ones first; no piano lessons; and adding in a snack/”recess” time before lunch.
The red slots are my schedule; those are the times that I work with that particular child(ren) on that subject. Each child (at least the older ones) gets a copy of their own schedule to have at their desk so they can get used to the flow and know what is coming up next.
*The evening schedule will be determined when we get the boys’ hockey schedules. Last year hockey ended up being two nights a week.
With four children ages 5 and under, Busy Bags/Boxes come in very handy in our homeschool. I first heard of “Activity Bags” from a Yahoo Group (can’t remember which one) when someone mentioned the Activity Bags book. I was longing for ways to keep my little ones busy while schooling the older kids, so I immediately bought the book. I have made up many of the activities in the book, and since then have found many other activities on the web to add to our collection. You can check out lots of ideas on my Busy Bags Pinterest Board for inspiration.
I LOVE how organized your schedule is! You are a STAR to keep them all learning, happy, & organized! Praying for a smooth moving day 😉
Thank you Christy! We are slowly settling in!
