I love Christmas!
It’s my favorite holiday!
I love decorating for Christmas, music, baking……
Decorating the tree is my favorite, I love anything evergreen.
I always wanted my tree to be just right, perfect, like you see in magazine, websites, and store windows.
Then I had kids…..
And anyone with kids knows that Christmas trees and little kids don’t mix, at least if you want a perfect, magazine-worthy tree.
Well, this year has been quite different. We’ve had a lot going on this year. We moved twice and we are expecting our 7th baby on Christmas Eve!
This has been my hardest pregnancy to date. Homeschooling, keeping house, taking care of 6 children, and growing another human being has not been easy. So this year, we have really had to simplify and scale back on our Christmas prep and celebrations.
Normally, I bake and decorate and shop like a mad woman. But not this year.
There are no sweet aromas coming from my kitchen, no Christmas music playing in the background (I don’t even know where my Christmas CDs are), fewer presents under the tree, and the only decorating we have done is our tree.
And you know who decorated it, my kids (ages 3-10; my husband didn’t even decorate because he was sick). All the Christmas decoration are still packed away in the garage. We don’t even have a star on the top, didn’t have a tree skirt until this one arrived and I was reminded that it’s okay. The reason for the season is Jesus’ love, His life.
It’s not about the gifts, or the decorations, or the goodies and parties. It’s about God’s love for us and what He did for us by sending us His only son!

This tree skirt from DaySpring is absolutely beautiful! I love that it’s reversible, but I’m partial to the side with the amazing message of God’s love. The colors are perfect and I love the quilted stitching; very well made. The tree skirt is 40″ in diameter and the opening is 4 3/4″ with a tie closure. The outer covering is 100% cotton fabric and the inside content is polyester fiber batting.
I’m so excited to place this last finishing touch on our Christmas tree. It’s a perfect reminder for me, and our whole family, the real reason we celebrate Christmas.
Our Tree |
As I type this, I sit in the glow of the lights (with one, or is it two, strands of lights not working) from our perfectly decorated tree (I especially love the branches that have multiple ornaments on them and the parts of the tree where the ornaments are just laid in the branches and not even hung) and thank God for the Ultimate Gift He sent us so many years ago, and for the wonderful gift we are about to receive any day (baby #7).

Love the tree skirt and your sweet reminder to not get lost in the Christmas “to do’s.” I remember the years of gating the tree off from curious little fingers! Enjoy those special days 🙂
Your pic of the tree in the playpen brought back memories! Newest follower from the Crew ; )!
