The Best Greek Yogurt – You Be the Judge

Today’s #Tasteoff was sponsored by Yoplait, but the winner was my honest choice.

Greek Yogurt Taste Off

I think it’s safe to say that spring has arrived in my neck of the woods.  And spring always brings along my desire to get outside, start exercising, and start eating more healthy again.  Plus, I have a little pregnancy weight I’d like to shed, so I’m in high-gear to eat right and get fit.

One thing I struggle with is snacking.  It’s so easy to just grab a quick, usually unhealthy, bite to eat.  So I’m always on the look out for a healthy alternative.  Yogurt is one of those healthy substitutes, but there are so many different kinds and so many different flavors, it’s sometimes hard to choose what brand and flavor to buy.

I was hoping that by participating in the Yoplait Greek 100 Strawberry vs. Chobani Simply 100 Strawberry challenge, that it would help make my yogurt-purchasing decisions much easier, and it did!  After holding a taste off of my own, there is a clear winner in my book.

Here is how the two contenders stacked up:

Nutritional Value

  • Calories – 100
  • Fat – 0 grams
  • Fiber – ‘not a significant source of dietary fiber’
  • Protein – 10 grams
  • Carbohydrates – 14 grams
  • Weight Watchers Points Plus value – 2 points (old points calculation – 2 points)

  • Calories – 100
  • Fat – 0 grams
  • Fiber – 5 grams
  • Protein – 12 grams
  • Carbohydrates – 15 grams
  • Weight Watchers Points Plus value – 2 points (old points calculation – 1 point)

Since I use Weight Watchers (and I still use the old points system), Chobani won this category.

  • Yoplait appeared smoother and had more fruit in the cup.  The strawberries were pink and upon stirring, the yogurt turned pink from the berry juice.

  • Chobani appeared stiff and didn’t have a lot of fruit in it.  The strawberries were purplish and the yogurt remained white after stirring.

With more fruit, and fresher looking berries, Yoplait won this category.

  • Yoplait had a great strawberry taste.

  • There wasn’t much strawberry flavor to it and it tasted a bit sour.

Hands down- Yoplait won the taste category!

The overall winner is………..

  3. I am definitely not a fan of Chobani, their yogurt is always super sour and carries little flavor, which drives me crazy!
