Apologia Blog Roll 2012-2013

Are you a blogger who will be using Apologia for your science curriculum for the 2012-2013 school year?

If you are, I'd love for you to link up your blog below.  That way we all can connect with other Apologia users, see how others are using this curriculum, gain ideas, advice and tips for projects and experiments, or to simply find fellowship.

In your link-up, please include the book(s) you will be using (Astronomy, Botany, Zoo1, etc.), and your name or blog title.

After you link up, please share the blog roll button in your sidebar.  This will allow other Apologia users to find the list, as well as provide you an easy way to navigate back to the list.

Please note: your blog does not have to be exclusively about Apologia science; this list is for anyone using the Apologia curriculum for science.  However, if you label your Apologia related posts as such, it will be easier for others to find the appropriate posts.

Happy Exploring!!

Sharing with these lovely link parties!

    1. Thanks for adding your blog to the list and thanks for letting me know about the button. I checked them and if you grabbed the code from the post, that one doesn't seem to be working. If you grab the one in my sidebar, that one is working.

  7. Hello, I saw your post on The Homeschool Scientist on facebook, and came here to add my blog, but I only blog about the upper sciences.

I do have a question though. I have been using blogger for several years, but do not know how you are able to reply directly to a comment. It always puts my reply at the bottom.
Can you please tell me how you do that? Is there html code I need?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Marty - Feel free to link up anyway if you'd like. I don't want to exclude anyone! :) Maybe I'll change it to all Apologia science.

As far as replying to comments - instead of leaving a comment in the box, click on reply under the comment you want to reply to. A new comment box should come up and when you publish it, it should show up under the comment you are replying to.

      Hope that helps!

      Blessings!

  8. Oh, thanks! I'll link up, then. =)
And I guess I wasn't clear. It does put my comment at the bottom, but what I should have said was there is no option available to reply directly.
Maybe it's because of the template I have chosen, or maybe that option is only available to blogs that aren't as old as mine.
    Hmmm...
I'll go browse through settings and see what I can find.
    Thanks!

  10. Thanks for the link up. It will be fun to see what others are doing with Zoology 3 this coming year.

I did add the button, but it's a little too big for my side bar. Do you mind if I make it smaller?

    1. Jenny - Absolutely make the button smaller if you need to!

  22. I have a question. I got the Zoology 1 Book and the Junior Notebooking Journal. I thought this would be so much fun for my son, but now I am second guessing because he is only in K and I am not sure he'll fully enjoy and get much our of this at this age. Thoughts/help?

    1. Hi Rebecca –

I’m going to answer your question as best I can since we have not used Zoology 1 yet. I did take a peak at the table of contents to get a better idea of what is covered in the book.

First off, science should be fun at this age. Don’t expect your Kindergartener to remember everything you read, but at the same time, you WILL be amazed at what they do absorb and remember at this age. If something goes over your child’s head, that’s OKAY! He’s young and at this age, what he is learning is a stepping stone for things he will learn in the future.

So, my suggestion is to read the book with your son and have him narrate things back to you that he remembers. Cut the reading up into smaller chunks so it’s not overwhelming for either of you. Add in library books that are targeted for his age group.

Here are some other things you can do along with reading the text (and some links):

Go bird watching / insect watching (take some nature books along with you to help you identify)

      Get a butterfly habitat

    2. Hi Rebecca, I purchased Zoology 1 to do with my 6 1/2 year old (who reads at a Grade 4 level, so I thought would be fine), and when it arrived I could see it was going to be too much for her. So I switched to Astronomy for the year and it was the perfect fit. She's now 7 1/2 and ready for Zoology 1.
